STEM Subjects Index All Books

Each BioFables book incorporates dozens of STEM subjects. You  can use the following list of Basic and Applied STEM categories to guide your selection of books for the children in your life. NOTE: Because some topics are relevant to several subjects, they are listed in each of their applicable classifications.

A word about our classification scheme: We tried to select and name the categories to reflect the needs of children in learning about STEM subjects, while organizing them in a way that we hope parents and teachers will find useful. We’ve only listed those subjects which actually occur in the BioFables books (1-6 published so far). New categories and subjects will be added for those covered in subsequent books.

We use simple terminology for the subjects under the main categories, such as “Plants” instead of “Botany.” In the spirit of helping to inspire STEM learning, we’ve added topics in the “Humans” subject that will be also listed in the Humanities (non-STEM) Subjects (coming soon). An example: “Catching, preparing chickens for cooking” is basically a “Life Skill” (Humanities) topic, but also appears in the “Humans” subject under the “Biology” classification.

You might also notice that certain topics recur in different chapters and different books. This repetition (often with adding new information) is sometimes called “spaced repetition.” This repetition contributes to learning and remembering what we’ve learned.

All BioFables books start out with a Helpful Hints section and end with Next Adventure. You’ll find detailed information on each book by clicking on its title in the Series 1 Book List in the right sidebar column.
